Marker1 The Milford Preservation Trust’s ongoing program to mark historic sites within the city of Milford with informative plaques will continue in 2014 as funds become available.  Three signs have already been placed, including markers for the presumed burial site of explorer Peter Pond, a member of a prominent Milford family who became a hero of early Canada, the John Downs House, the home of Milford’s colonial diarist and Revolutionary War soldier, and the site across the harbor from where American prisoners of war suffering from smallpox were dumped by a British warship.
